100k Lifetime Miles Runner

Posted on January 10, 2010

100,000 miles. That’s 160,000 kilometres or running a marathon 3,800 times over! And if you were to do it over a lifetime running 40 miles a week, it will take you slightly more than 48 years to accomplish the feat.

I simply can’t imagine myself doing it but some people have. Amby Burfoot, Runner’s World editor did it. Ron Hill, Great Britain’s long distance running legend ran more than 150,000 miles already. Novelist Haruki Murakami probably got it.

Small things will lead to bigger ones. Maybe I can start by aiming to run 10,000 miles in this lifetime. To do that, I will have to run 6 miles a week for the next 30 years. Brilliant!
